James 5: 13-20

The Prayer of Faith
13 Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

19 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

The power of PRAYER! I know it, I've lived it! There is no greater power on earth than that of a person praying.

So why don't we do it more often? I am not innocent in this. I find myself at the end of the day going to bed and realize I haven't talked to God today! I will be in a situation where someone has asked me to pray for something or one of my children are sick and need prayer, only to realize that I am asking God for a miracle but haven't talked to Him or thanked Him in days. How come? I can't go a single day without talking to my best friend. Why is it that I don't talk to God as much? It's because I am lazy and treating God like a genie in a bottle!

Today that changes! I want to wake up praising His name and go to bed doing the same thing. I know the power of prayer (I have two miracle children that the doctors said I couldn't have!) I have been prayed over the way this passage talks about! Now it's my turn to go pray over others.

I have been trying to change the way I answer the call for prayer. I used to just say, "Yes I'll pray for you". Do you know how often I forgot? Too many times. Now, I try to immediately pray for the person and situation. Talking to God is an awesome thing to do!

Turn off your TV, Computer, Phone, etc and get on your knees in front of God and see what He can do in your life!

Father, Thank you that you hear me even when I don't deserve it. Thank you for always answering prayers even if the answer is not what I want to hear! I am sorry for the times I have ignored you. Please forgive me! Amen
